Townsville Crocodiles continued their resurgence with a double-header win to storm into the top 8. They began with the Wednesday night TV game when they dominated from start to finish to record a 26-point win over second-placed Melbourne Tigers. Import Corey Williams was dominant, landing 31 points to lead all scorers while Jason Rillie recorded 23. The Crocs then travelled to Adelaide, where after an even first half they pulled away after the break to record their 5th straight win and end Adelaide's mini-revival. Melbourne Tigers, after their loss to Townsville, went on to taste defeat again at the hands of Perth Wildcats. The Wildcats were impressive to record an 18-point win, but for the Tigers it was their third loss in succession which leaves them in severe danger of finding the Kings too far ahead to be a chance to catch. The Kings continued on their winning way, travelling to Cairns to post a 15-point win over the Taipans. Mark Worthington scored 31 to lead all scorers in a match the Kings led from start to finish. For the Taipans, it was a 1-1 weekend, having already beaten New Zealand Breakers at North Shore Events Centre. In an uncharacteristically high scoring match, Darnell Mee scored 30 to spearhead the Taipans to a 25-point victory. Brisbane Bullets threw down a challenge to the struggling Tigers, putting themselves within reach of second spot with a 121-93 win over Gold Coast Blaze. Dusty Rychart with 32 and Ebe Ere with 29 were the dominant forces for the Bullets. Meanwhile, the struggling Singapore Slingers were condemned to remain at the bottom of the ladder after going down 109-99 to South Dragons. |
