After a run of recent poor performances, St George-Illawarra suddenly shook off all the doom and gloom to produce
some winning form when they took on the Roosters in the Anzac Day clash at ANZ Stadium. The Roosters went into the
match as the hottest of favourites, but it took just 3 minutes for the form guide to be thrown out the window when Ben
Hornby flew high to grab a bomb and put it down over the Roosters' line. And so the Dragon revival had begun; and so
it would continue for 80 minutes as they ran in 4 tries to 1 for just their second win of the season and a result that gives
them some hope of turning their disappointing season around.

A huge Friday night crowd was on hand at Suncorp Stadium, and the Broncos were far too classy for the winless
Souths and cruised to a 32-18 win. In his first game back from injury, Darren Lockyer proved his fitness by running out
a full 80 minutes, but the news wasn't so good for Steve Michaels who was taken off early with a serious knee injury,
and for Justin Hodges who injured his ankle shortly before half-time. With doubles by Denan Kemp and Joel Moon, the
Broncos ran out to a big lead and despite the Rabbitohs scoring some late consolation tries the result of the game
was never in doubt.

Fortress Brookvale is known for being a graveyard for visiting teams, but the struggling Bulldogs looked a chance to
cause the upset early in their Saturday evening clash. Heka Nanai went over in the first 5 minutes, and from the next set
of 6 Sonny Bill Williams crashed his way through the pack to score another and take the Bulldogs to a 10-0 lead. But
then the Manly machine clicked into gear, 5 unanswered tries restoring the normal order and ensuring the Sea Eagles
would add to their impressive home record. The Stewart brothers were at their dominant best, each scoring a try and
having a hand in others; while Matt Orford with 5 goals was a key factor in stretching the lead to one that, despite a late
rally, the Bulldogs had no hope of making up.

Melbourne extended their winning streak to 4 matches when the Storm recorded another victory on the road, but they
were made to fight for it by a determined North Queensland side; and in the end it took great strength of character for
the Storm to hold the Cowboys out. With a tackle by Johnathan Thurston sidelining fullback Billy Slater; and against an
avalanche of Cowboy possession, a rising injury toll, a paraochial home crowd and a lopsided penalty count it was a
display of dogged defence that denied the Cowboys the winner that looked theirs for the taking for much of the second
half.

For the first time ever, a Gold Coast side won 5 straight games when the Titans overcame the New Zealand
Warriors at Skilled Park. The entertaining rugby league on display again encouraged the locals to come and the
stadium was again hosting a bumper crowd and a high-scoring match. Dominating possession early, the Titans
put scoreboard pressure on the Warriors all the way through the match, running to a 24-12 lead at half-time and
maintaining their advantage during the second half. The Titans are sitting comfortably a game clear on top of the
ladder, while the struggling Warriors crashed to 14th after another disappointing defensive effort.

The Cronulla v Wests Tigers game at Toyota Stadium on Sunday wasn't the highest standard game ever, with
knock-ons and unforced errors everywhere; but a close finish and see-sawing fortunes that saw the lead change
hands 5 times during the contest kept the crowd entertained. The Tigers had the better of play overall, scoring 4
tries to 2; but 3 penalty goals to Cronulla's Luke Covell kept the Sharks in the contest. And it wasn't until Chris
Lawrence went over with 5 minutes to go that the Tigers grabbed the lead for the last time and held out against
successive sets by the Sharks to record a valuable win.
