Unlike the carnage among the seeds that took place in the last few days, Friday was plain sailing for the top seeded
players. None of the top 16 womens players dropped a set, while only 12th seed Mikhail Youzhny and 14th seed Nicolas
Almagro among the top 16 mens' seeds lost a set but both bounced back to take their matches in 4 sets.
Former world number 1 Ana Ivanovic, no longer a seed, had to struggle in her first set against Virginie Razzano but
eventually forced a break to take the set 7-5 before breezing through the second set 6-0 to book herself a spot in the round
of 16.
29th seed Philipp Kohlschreiber is out of the tournament, after going down in 5 sets to France's Gilles Simon. It was a
struggle for 23rd seed Feliciano Lopez, having to come from behind, but eventually he fell over the line in five sets against
Benoit Paire. John Isner, who eventually prevailed in the epic at this year's Wimbledon, is also through to the round of 16
after a 4-set win over Marco Chiudielli.
