Womens semi final day saw China's Na Li and defending champion Francesca Schiavone qualify for the final, after both
enjoyed straight sets wins in their semi finals.
First up was Na Lia's match against Russia's Maria Sharapova. And it started in ideal fashion for Na, winning her first
service game and then breaking Sharapova to ensure she would stay in front throughout the set. But it wasn't quite plain
sailing. After Na led 4-2, Sharapova broke back only for Na to immediately break Sharapova's serve. And the final two
games of the set were also service breaks before Na eventually fell over the line.
Sharapova got off to a good start in the second set, breaking Na in the opening game before finally the run of service breaks
ended when Sharapova held in the second game of the set. But Na broke back in the fourth game to get the set back on
serve, and broke again in the twelfth game to win the set 7-5 and book a place in the final.
Francesca Schiavone was up against local hope Marion Bartoli. But hopes of a French competitor in the final were quickly
blown away, with Schiavone dominating the match to have little difficulty in booking herself a place in the final for the second
year in a row, and with a great chance of defending her title.
The first final of this year's French Open was decided with the mixed doubles final being played. And it was good news for
Australia's Casey Dellacqua, who teamed up with Scott Lipsky to defeat top seeds Kararina Srebotnik and Nenad Zimonjic
and take the title.
