The step from clay to grass has done many top players undone, particularly in the womens' game; and we've seen plenty of
examples in recent years where the French Open champion has departed Wimbledon early. And it happened again on Day
4, as French Open champion Na Li went down to unseeded German Sabine Lisicki. Na took the first set comfortably
enough, but faced stiff resistance from the determined Lisicki in the second set. Lisicki took the all-important break to take
the second set and force the match into a decider.
The final set was a thriller, as both players created plenty of break points but were unable to capitalise. But after a long arm
wrestle, it was Na who cracked and dropped her serve, allowing Lisicki to take the set 8-6, take the match and claim the
scalp of the tournament's third seed.
The number 13 is unlucky for some, and it was for both mens and womens 13th seeds. Russia's Viktor Troicki and
Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska both exited the tournament in the second round. Also leaving was 14th seed Anastasia
Pavlyenchova, going down to former seed Nadia Petrova in straight sets.
